Acupuncture
Acupuncture derives from Chinese Traditional Medicine. Many of us may know about the treatment, but have not actually been treated.
And for people that have received acupuncture treatment, it would have been a great experience and have been back to be treated more – or the complete opposite. I am sure there are also a handful of people that do not even dare to look down the path of acupuncture due to the phobia of needles.

Acupuncture Treatment Details
Acupuncture is the process of the acupuncturist thoroughly consulting the client to see the purpose of the treatment. Once the consultation has been completed the client will either lie or sit, depending on where the needles will be inserted. The needles aren’t necessarily inserted in the problem area – for example, if you have lower back pain the needles may be inserted in your head – it all depends on the meridians (flow of the body’s energy). Whilst the needles are inserted, other methods may be implemented to assist with further enhancing the recovery such as, cupping, moxibustion, acupressure and/or massage.
Private Health Fund rebates apply.
Acupuncture Needles
It definitely doesn’t look like the immunisation injections we get at the doctors – acupuncture needles are single use, disposable, very fine and sterile. You may not even feel the insertion.

Difference between an Acupuncturist and Dry Needling?
Dry needling is generally a 2day to one-week course which doesn’t register the therapist with the an association nor have strict requirements on standards, procedures and professional development. Acupuncturist on the other hand must undertake a minimum 4 year bachelor degree and are registered with CMBA. Acupuncturists must follow strict infection control standards, professional development courses as well as have professional indemnity insurance.
